What Magnesium Citrate is used for:


Magnesium citrate may be prescribed to prevent recurrence of calcium oxalate kidney stones relieve constipation. Magnesium citrate is an osmotic laxative.


Do not take Magnesium Citrate:


• In case of abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and other symptoms of appendicitis.

• In case of abdominal surgery.

• In case of intestinal obstruction or perforation.

• In case of rectal fissures.


Warnings and precautions


Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Magnesium Citrate if you:

have impaired renal function.

have rectal bleeding.

Are pregnant or breastfeeding


Possible side effects

Other medicines and Magnesium Citrate


Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking:

• Aminoquinolones (e.g. chloroquine).

• Fluoroquinolones (e.g. ciprofloxacin).

• Nitrofurantoin.

• Penicillamine, and tetracyclines.


How to take Magnesium Citrate


The contents of one sachet are to be dissolved in half glass of water and given 3 times daily or as directed by the physician.

How to store Magnesium Citrate

Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

• Use by the date on the end flap of the carton.

• Store this medicine at room temperature, away from heat and direct light. Do not freeze medicines unless required by package insert.
