Hydrochloric acid (HCl) secretion into the gastric lumen is a process regulated mainly by the H (+)/K (+)-ATPase of the proton pump, expressed in high quantities by the parietal cells of the stomach.
proton pump inhibitor that inhibits the secretion of gastric acid by irreversibly blocking the enzyme system of hydrogen/potassium (H+/K+-exchanging ATPase), the “proton pump” of the gastric parietal cell.
Dexlansoprazole is a member of a class called “proton pump inhibitors”
Therapeutic Indications Of Dexilant 60 Mg Capsules
Duodenal ulcers (a sore that forms at the beginning of your small intestine)
H Pylori eradication (bacteria that can live in your gut and cause ulcers) to prevent recurrence of duodenal ulcers
Benign gastric ulcer (a non-cancerous sore that forms in your stomach)
NSAID-associated ulcer (sore that forms in your gut due to excessive use of NSAIDs)
GERD (acid reflux also known as “heartburn”): is the backflow of acid from the stomach into the gullet (“food pipe”) which may become inflamed and painful. This may cause your symptoms such as a painful sensation in the chest rising to your throat (heartburn) and a sour taste in the mouth (acid regurgitation).
Erosive esophagitis (acid irritation injuring the esophagus): inflammation that may damage tissues of the esophagus, the muscular tube that delivers food from your mouth to your stomach. Esophagitis can cause painful, difficult swallowing and chest pain.
Pathological hyper-secretory conditions (problems in the gut that cause excessive acid production)
Method Of Administration Of Dexilant 60 Mg Capsules

Warnings & Special Precautions While Taking Dexilant 60 Mg Capsules
Do not use this medication in:
Patients with known hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation
Gastric Malignancy: Symptomatic response with dexlansoprazole does not preclude the presence of gastric malignancy
Acute Interstitial Nephritis: Observed in patients taking PPIs
Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B-12) Deficiency: Daily long-term use (e.g., longer than 3 years) may lead to malabsorption or a deficiency of cyanocobalamin
Clostridium difficile Associated Diarrhea: PPI therapy may be associated with increased risk
Bone Fracture: Long-term and multiple daily dose PPI therapy may be associated with an increased risk for osteoporosis-related fractures of the hip, wrist, or spine
Hypomagnesemia: Reported rarely with prolonged treatment with PPIs
Interactions with Diagnostic Investigations for Neuroendocrine Tumors: Increases in intragastric pH may result in hypergastrinemia and enterochromaffin-like cell hyperplasia and increased
chromogranin A levels which may interfere with diagnostic investigations for neuroendocrine tumors
Interaction with Methotrexate: Concomitant use with PPIs may elevate and/or prolong serum concentrations of methotrexate and/or its metabolite, possibly leading to toxicity. With high dose methotrexate administration, consider a temporary withdrawal.
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking:
Antiretrovirals
Warfarin
Methotrexate
Digoxin
